THE PROJECT

To create a microsite that was informative concerning new Verifone EMV technology. The microsite should have a deadline driven call to action to reduce credit card fraud and remind the small business owner that the fraud charges will be moved back to them if they do not update their equipment to the new Verifone chip card ready terminals within a certain timeline.

THE CHALLENGE

The main objective of this microsite was to drive new technology to the small business owners. To inform them on the deadline to gain a new technology EMV accessible EX 520 Payment Terminal to accept EMV cards for Worldpay small business owners.

USER RESEARCH AND DISCOVERY

We conducted site client surveys as well as the Stakeholder’s survey’s to gain quantitative data concerning the Worldpay client base and their need to update to the EX 520 Payment terminal. These surveys showed that only 1 out of ever 5 small business owner’s had switched to the new system. The breakdown was often that the small business owner was used to a certain way of accepting payment and they did not want the added cost to upgrade. We also found that 4 our of 5 small business owners did not understand the impact of credit card fraud concerning continued the older terminal’s could cost them and Worldpay as a company in revenue daily, monthly and yearly. The small business owner had limited knowledge to how this would ultimately drive up the monthly cost to use Worldpay as a service provider.

WHAT DID WORLDPAY LEARN

We learned that the design needed to be updated to drive the deadline and be clear in how credit card fraud could be prevented with the new Verifone wireless terminal and be to the point and easy to gain access to gain the new EMV terminal.

THE SOLUTION

Ultimately to create a clear, viable and easy to use microsite for both desktop and mobile applications that gives specific knowledge to credit card fraud and create a quick call to action to update the terminal using icons and clean imagery.
